Going to be a right pain having a spare wheel to find a home for when we arrive at a site, we do alot of weekends and often dont have a awning up.

Very stable, pretty economical even with two children, holiday gear and bikes on the roof, without that lot I can get almost 50 mpg. Slightly less than the same trip last year with the old model. Get a motor mover if you can afford it - it will be cheaper than putting in a new clutch more frequently. All in all highly delighted and would definitely recommend.

  • This model has the bhp engine and is lower geared than most modern cars giving an easy unstressed feel. Discoveries and other true "Tow vehicles" will go past you on hills, but this vehicle is stable.

  • Alternatively, suitable for an inexpensive bodywork repair, or the rear panels are available for purchase and replacement.

Ive seen me in second to climb a hill on an A road. This 5100 my second CRV the first was a petrol manual 5 speed I had this when I first purchased my Sprite buying the diesel 2. Will keep this combo for a while to come. Have just completed a nightmare journey with the CR-V 2. Very stable combination. Whatever people have said on here is right for them.

Drives like a dream, Honda is my car and I now tow instead of hubby. Its a fantastic car, pulling a large Bailey Burgundy with ease. Car seems stable. After that the machine did the run to France very well. Gritted my teeth and stuck to 56mph the whole way. Superb combination - no probs at all! I drive a Nissan X-Trail 2.

We have been to Scotland, Wales and Cornwall and Rannger cant fault it. Shame, because both the car and the caravan are great, but not together! MPG does suffer when towing but I find this varies alot depending on the terrain and head wind. Would say a Pathfinder would suite better, but i have had no problems.

  • CRV clutch is not up to the job either. There are better tow cars I am sure.

  • Rock steady on the road, check the tyre pressures as it will make a difference! I never thought that I would ever look forward to driving that Insignia again but - bring it on - is all I can say having driven this disaster of a Honda.

  • I used 5th gear on twisty roads with ease, but 6th would be pushing it.

None of the cars there could even get loss on the slope, even those that were supposed to be 4 wheel drive, so we were so pleased with the performance of the car. Auto performed well, easy performance on motorways and N roads with Eriba It pulled the sterling jewel without any effort at all and I found it to be a very stable combination, although it did drink more diesel than the vectra as one would expect, over all a great towing car. We have only towed this caravan twice so far but you would not think there was anything on behind. Agree with everything I've read. Plenty of power, but likes 5th gear better than 6th.

A very well built, reliable and capable machine. However a bit disappointed with the torque MPH. The new mk 3 has better weights for the the larger vans. Very capable towing, the van is a lot more stable than the mondeo was, but down on power. The Honda has been a great car, it tows my Bailey easily.

Our Bqiley is a MK4 and on a recent trip to the South of France only managed 21mpg,using both computer and brim to brim, travelling at a steady 55mph. Great matching Previous train unit was Skoda Superb - and it was Superb!. No problems on motorways with good acceleration when needed.

I used my X-Trail 2. It even pulled it up a very steep field full of snow. I find the DCI tows this van exceptually well. I'd have no hesitation in recommending one.

Apart from this it's difficult to fault and I'd certainly consider another one, although Ranget quite taken by the new shape Honda CRV! Mid 20's to the gallon is easier on the wallet as well 12 mpg in the Grand Vitara. Excellent towcar. I have done 2 trips mile and mile.

Will be hard pushed to find a better all round performer. Bought this car to replace a vectra estate bhp ,I find the Honda a lot easier to get in and out of having best green juices for weight loss higher seating position. Car 15 months old and done but needed new clutch at whilst towing van. Difficult to find a happy criusing speed to keep the automatic box from changing up and down. Be aware as with all these comments it may be my own vehicle. We've had this X-trail four years now and have never had any problems towing. But all in all a very satisfactory pairing.

I also have a C5 and the bit about stress fractures was very important. So with the awning, chairs, flush water bxiley the loo, waste and fresh water carriers on board it will drop the nose weight by a fair bit. About 23mpg when towing. I would say that this is the weeight for this car, performs well, but need to use your lower gears more on slight inclines, never use 6th comfortably unless on motorway. Whatever happens be sure that what you buy is right for you. The Honda has been a great car, it tows my Bailey easily. However a bit disappointed with the torque MPH.

The caravan and car are a good match. Did tow elddis odysseymanaged absolutely fine. Massive boot space which stores all the extra gear. Only thing to watch for is the stabiliser hitch handle is very close to the spare wheel cover so extra care needed when coupling up.

Very high amount of bids. However for motorways journeys loss may do but I'm not sure as I tried it with 99 ron and 95 ron and it seemed fine with either. I have a family of four so there is a lot of kit to be packed, I always pack sensibly with weight distribution, But initially had difficulty with stability, this was a real shock when you hear all the reviews on what a good tow car the CRV is. As a previous reviewer stated it tows best when nose weight is near kg. Hope things work out and you get your van soon. I tour the continent every June and once on the motorway leave it to the cruise control.

  • The shower is a really decent size for a caravan which is a real bonus. Just put the spare wheel centrally behind the axle inside the caravan, when you arrive on site put it back in the gas locker.

  • The car is strong enough to pull.

  • Turbo replaced under warranty, loose glovebox, dodgy front brake calliper, and like all of them noisy when cold. Caravan pushed a little in the beging, but after i had put helper springs on the honda it runs like a dream.

  • I drive a Nissan X-Trail 2.

Pottering around solo keeping it under rpm gets me 50 th the gallon. Overall it is a fantastic towcar and a ranter caravan! Very slight warm clutch smell when manouevering on site but nothing to worry about. Superb comfort, quiet and unfussed whether pushing along on a motorway or pottering around country lanes. A great family vehicle that is surprisingly GTI-like when not towing.

We personally don't like the open 6 birth models with bunks along the back wall as you have no where to get changed, even if you are intending on using site facilities mainly. Shame, because both the car and the caravan are great, but not together! You did need to accelerate at the bottom of hills to get your speed up, MPG was very poor, on Average about 23 to the Gallon.

I have an Xtrail 2. Just drove for 6 hours with it trundling along behind me. Its simply aweful. Frankly it struggles and if faced with pulling away on a steep hill I doubt the vehicle would make it!!!

Trail was put onto low loader, and with caravan in tow ,returned home. You are unlikely to use 6th gear if you stick to the speed limits and off of the motorway you will find yourself going through the gears a fair bit. Returned 24 MPG over miles.

Great matching My passat gave better consumption I would rate the nissan x-trail 2. Overall a good tow car. Shame, because both the car and the caravan are great, but not together!

I would be tempted to pop the spare wheel in the boot of the car or if weight permitting in the van as cans of tyre weld stuff for a caravan in my opinion are a waste of time as most times you see a van on the side of the road with a flat tyre it is beyond repair.

Excellent performance from this fantastic towcar. No trouble towing on motorway in 6th gear. Very easy to tow. Fuel economy is bound to be down with this weight if you push it over 70 but even then I get 24mpg - and over 40mpg solo! MPG 29 towing, 41 solo. The Mk2 2. This was fitted by Honda and wasn't overly expensive.

Good combination, tows brilliantly bailey ranger 510 4l weight loss good mpg. Turbo replaced under warranty, loose glovebox, dodgy front brake calliper, and like all of them noisy when cold. Would recommend auto for anybody doing long distance touring and "tugging", dissapointing low volume fuel tank, restricted range. I travel with a noseweight of 67 kgs The unit tows like a dream at 60mph in all conditions with no stability issues. Now with 4 years and well over nights sleeping in a caravan this is our view on caravanning with daughter. Trail was booked into Nissan workshop. Tows brilliantly.

Far too jiucy for my liking though. Not a true 4x4 but also fantastic traction in wintery weather. My X-Trail II is a very stable and efficient tug. Would buy another in a heartbeat. Had the combination 18 months now and still impressed.

Just finished a 2 week holiday rangfr Devon. Now onto another crv albeit newer than the last one. Get an online quote now. A very well built, reliable and capable machine. A smooth drive pulling an Adria UP, but is a bit of a struggle starting off and battling up hill, especially in Cornwall.

Bought the X Trail 5yrs ago and never had any problems at all, only weight to replace front tyres, everything else is still original. It returns around 24mpg with this van apposed to 27mpg with the lighter van. Looks like a Nissan then or just accept need to change gear a lot on motorways! It tends to be a junk store for us. We have only towed our Lunar Chateau once, but so far we're very impressed. Ideal tow car pulls without effort. Moaning about nothing as per usual!

Not sure what we're getting in terms of MPG when towing but it will be better than the Volvo, without a doubt. I highly recommend this vehicle for this weight of c-van. The new mk 3 has better weights for the the larger vans.

Fuel consumption good too about 32 mpg towing, 38 mpg solo. We have been to Scotland, Wales and Cornwall and I cant fault it. 501 would now recommend the car in terms of towing, but reliability has proven a bit of an issue. Pulling away is excellent with lots of power with VTEC. I, personally would not recommend this car if your caravan is over about kgs regardless of what you are told. Honda is a fantastic tow car at this weight. It takes the road at ease and has no problem with down hill or up hill driving.
